How to post form data to my Facebook Page wall and Twitter page?

Asked by Christine on April 09, 2012 at 03:56 PM

Hello. I use your forms for my non-profit named Walk4Good. We have people dedicating a mile and then telling us what they are doing to practice kindness.

We have a web site as well as social media pages (Facebook and Twitter).

We are wondering if there is a way to share NAME, DEDICATION AND HOW WILL YOU PAY IT FORWARD data from the Walk4Good Dedication form automatically to Facebook and Twitter, and even feed it to our site. Right now we have to do all of this manually.

We don't want certain data shared like people's hometown's or email addresses.

    Thanks,

    Christine

    Christine,

Facebook assigns a special email address to a page to which you can send e-mail messages to be automatically converted to status updates.

You will need to use this email address as the recipient for your form's notification.

    To get this e-mail address:

    1.  Log in to your Facebook page's admin account

    2.  Use Facebook as [your page's name]

    3.  Click Admin Settings

    4.  Click Mobile

After retrieving this email address, create a separate notification for your form

    1.  Click Setup & Embed > Email Alerts > Add New Email
    2.  Choose Notification then click Next
    3.  In the Compose Email wizard, click Use Text E-mail then delete everything in the email body
    4.  Create a status update template in the Subject line. For example:  {name} has joined our club today. {name} is from {address}.

The field placeholders (in curly brackets) are automatically generated when you click the corresponding field name on the Form Fields menu found at the right hand side of the Compose E-mail screen. That means you can choose which fields you want to display on your Facebook status update.

As for twitter, you can just link your Facebook page to your twitter account by going to http://www.facebook.com/twitter/.

Your new status updates will then be posted as tweets on your twitter account.

I've done all the steps above. In the 3rd step, before Compose Email Wizards, do I change anything on 'provide sender and recipient details'?

    thank you

Sender Name and Email should be "JotForm" and "noreply@jotform.com", respectively.

You must also click "Use Text Email" in order to switch the email to text-only format.

Anyway, I went ahead and applied the changes I suggested above. Can you please check if the form posts to your Facebook page timeline?

Hi, I created another form for a different fan page of mine in facebook.  The problem is, after filling in the form, the details were sent to my old fan page.  How do I redirect the filled up new form to my second fan page???

    Hi,

The new form's recipient should be the [Facebook] assigned email address for your new fan page.

    To get that e-mail address:

    1.  Log in to your Facebook page's admin account

    2.  Use Facebook as [your new fan page's name]

    3.  Click Admin Settings

    4.  Click Mobile

To change your new form's notification recipient, please check out this guide:

Good day, I am trying to test out the below but there is no ADMIN SETTINGS / MOBILE in FB anymore - please can you go over step by step what I need to do, so that filling in the form will automatically post as a status update on a facebook page?

I cannot find this "email address" for my FB page.

    @alex

This thread is posted way back 2012. There are a lot of changes both in JotForm and surely on Facebook. I opened a separate thread for your concern so that we can discuss it better. Please refer to this link instead: https://www.jotform.com/answers/855334. We will address it shortly.

    Thank you.
