Fields on hidden pages are still being requiredAsked by Johnschweighardt on October 19, 2016 at 10:58 AM
Great suggestions. I've also discovered that if you hide pages that contain required fields, you get an error on submission. So you also need to use the enable/required field condition to unrequire fields to avoid this problem.
This is a re-post of a comment on Should You Use Required Fields on Your Form?
Fields that are hidden should not be required, same for fields on pages that are skipped. If fields are behind a form collapse, unless the form collapse is hidden, those fields will indeed still be required. If there is a form you would like to have us check, let us know which form and we will be happy to have a look. Hidden fields should not be required and it should not be necessary to create conditions to remove the requirement.
I've adopted your approach on more recent forms. Using the unrequired works, but forces you to continually reverse your logic. It's all good. Thanks for checking in.
