Hello! I added a column (Gender) in between two other existing columns in a matrix survey field.
When reintegrating with a Google Sheet, the existing columns were NOT shifted to make room for the new column.
I presume this is something that wasn't accounted for when designing the integration, so I'm not surprised that it doesn't automatically inject the new matrix columns as spreadsheet columns in the Google Sheet, but it would be nice if it could.

All columns should be created including the new ones you've added into the Google Spreadsheet. This would require full reintegration. Please remove the integration and integrate your form again, this should give you an updated spreadsheet with all the columns from the matrix field as well as all the existing submissions data.

Hi, Elton! I tried this but it didn't work.
- JotForm SupportEltonCrisAnswered on October 25, 2016 at 10:24 AM
I cloned your form and integrate it with Google Spreadsheet, it created all the columns including the Gender column. It appears between the uniqname and school/college columns.
Can you please review if this column exists? When you re-integrate the form to Google Spreadsheet, it would generate a new spreadsheet file. That's where you will see all the updates columns.
Let us know if this is not how it behaves or works on your end. If you could also share to us the integrated spreadsheet file, we could review all the columns here.

Did you clone the form with all the data? I believe this makes a difference, as I have existing data in mine, and when I reintegrate the process shifts old/existing data one column to the left, so that the Gender column contains both school/college data and gender data, like below (the last 3 rows of data).
College of Engineering
So it's not working yet, even with multiple stop/start integrations...

I'm truly sorry for not checking that. I thought it was just a column names issue. I will check that and get back to you with my findings.

I made at least 3 submissions but I still could not reproduce the problem. I checked the last Gender Column (col BW - 7th row in the matrix field) and it is not shifting to any other columns.
Example: You can check the same spreadsheet I sent a while ago.
I also reintegrated my form to Google Spreadsheet. It moves all the existing data on the same exact column.
While I could not reproduce the problem on the cloned form, did you check if those data appeared to be on the same column (matrix column) in your form submissions page? I cleared your form cache here, would you please reintegrate your form with google spreadsheet once more? If the problem still persists, please let us know. If you can also share to us the spreadsheet file, that would help us further troubleshoot the problem.

I believe new submissions are following the column order, but OLD data is not. Meaning: the insertion of a new column in a Matrix field is NOT shifting old data in the Jotform database.
Rather than re-integrating with Google, I tested this by downloading an Excel version of the data. The gender field appears for all 7 people in the following columns: I, T, AE, AP, BA, BL, and BW. They're all labeled as "... >> Gender", but only NEW data is inserted properly.
At the end of the day, I don't think the Jotform programming is set up to handle the insertion of new columns in matrix fields and properly shift existing data. You could verify this by adding another column in your test, then adding data to see if your old data shifts accordingly

Additionally, when I view the data online in the Submissions window, the OLD data isn't shown properly.

Thanks for that details and for your cooperation.
I was finally able to reproduce the problem. You're right, it occurred when you have existing submissions data in the form while a new column is added to the matrix field.
The problem is shown on my test here: (I added the name column)
I have now raised this to our developers so for a resolution. You will be informed here once this is fixed.
For now, I suggest to manually move the existing submissions data into the right column in your spreadsheet file. It should be pretty easy.

Elton, thanks for keeping on this and verifying the problem. Is there a way I could be informed by the developers when/if this is fixed, maybe via this thread? Or on some other page?

Yes, our developers should inform you here once the issue is fixed. We just can't give you a timeframe.

Hello Jotform team
We also are experiencing the same problem. We added to our form https://form.jotform.com/62295095996978
a new field "14.00-15.30: Meeting of the Maritime Working Group" before an already existing field "19.30: Welcome reception"
The existing data before the addition concerning replies for the Welcome reception has now been replaced as Meeting of the Maritime Working Group.
NEW SUBMISSIONS look like this - we see clearly the two fields Maritime working group and Welcome reception.
OLD SUBMISSIONS look like this. The Welcome reception field has disappeared and been replaced with Maritime Working Group).
This is also reflected in the excel report. After line 192, the replies Under maritime working group actually should be Under Welcome reception.
Thanks a lot for your help in fixing the problem!

Our developers are working on this with a very high priority. You will be notified as soon as the issue is resolved.
We appreciate your patience. Thank you for reporting this.
