Thanks for contacting us. You can set the field limit to any figure by selecting your text box field on the form builder and then click on "Max Size" button on the toolbar:
I am sure my colleagues will confirm whether we have the limit size, but i think it depends on your needs.
"Size" and "Max Size"- these fields are not clearly labeled/defined, in my opinion.
Size: your label says "set number of characters users can enter"- that sounds like users are REQUIRED to enter that many characters. But in reality, it looks like that number is used to define the size of the box (except when 0 is entered, it seems to default to a medium size). I am guessing also that even if you define a small box size, but define a larger number in the "Max Size" field, some of the characters will be hidden, but can be seen by using the cursor. Am I correct?
Max Size: your label says "maximum allowed characters for this field". But when I enter 40 in the field, and later test it, I can enter at least 80 characters, so it's not doing its job of restricting me to 40.
Maybe I can help explain it a bit.
Size: It may vary on the type of field. For textbox it is 20 by default. As the hint (see image) indicated, it is the number of characters that can be inputted on the field. If you set the size to 100, you can input up to 100 characters and even the pixel size of the field will become wider (perhaps 100px also). BUT the Max Size will also dictate limit of the number of characters allowed.
Max Size: By default this is zero (0). By being zero, it removes the limits on the Size property of the field. If there is a value aside from 0, then it will dictate the limit of the Size property.
If size property is 100 and max size is only 10, then, I can see on the screen render a 100 px wide textbox field, but I can only input up to 10 characters on it.
I could not reproduce the glitch you mentioned wherein the you can input characters more than the max size limit.
Hope this help. Please inform us if you have further inquiry.
I can reproduce the glitch too.
Can you please provide us more details about the glitch you mentioned?
It will be better to create a separate thread about it. You can use this link to post
