I get the proper "Thank You" notificaton but no email was sent or received.

Your email address email@example.com was previously added to the bounce list, which is why the notification emails were not sent. Although upon checking, it appears that the email has now been removed from the bounce list. You should receive the next email notifications successfully. I have sent a test notification to confirm.
