Editing a field without changing the field in the Conditions?

Hi, I edited a field (just adding a word to an existing field so not a huge change) and as a result the whole field just disappeared in the conditions! Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I set up all my conditions first, ran all my testing on the form, then realised I had to edit the field, but then all the conditions suddenly lost that field....  Is that a glitch or normal? If normal, is there a way to not make the field disappear from the conditioning if it is edited?

Changing the field may lead to change in the name of variable name assigned to the field. Such change may break the condition as the field name embedded earlier , no longer exists after the change made to field.
