How can I generate a unique invoice number?

I am creating a form to be used by my salesman. However, how can I make the form generates automatically an invoice number that will never be repeated when salesman uses the same form in the future?

I gave a try and it worked; however, it seems like this widget will not be displayed to my customers but will show up on my reports and submissions page. I really want to make it displayed to my customers, CAN I? If I can not, could you please introduce to me a new Widget or any way to do it. As you know an invoice number is a number that should be shown to the customer and me.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience. The unique ID widget only generates its value after form submission that is why it doesn't have a value initially when the form loads. However, its value will still be shown to the customers in email autoresponder that will be sent to them after they have submitted the form.
