I have a form that I need to only show certain products based on selection made previously.
it is for a basketball tournament. if you are a division 1 coach certain products are shown and if you are a division 2-3-juco-naia coach other products are shown.

You will need to use Conditions and custom payment option to achieve this.
User guide: How to Show or Hide Fields Base on User's Answer
The custom payment will be base on assigned calculation values of the selected products/items.

You can test my demo form here which have a similar concept.

I dont think this will achieve what I want. if you look at my form 2018 The National Championship College Coaches. I have a list of 5 different products that are available for purchase for the college coaches. they may purchase anywhere from 1 to 4 or 5 of these items. Also, one of those may be bought in multiples.
The best way to do this would be if you were able to have two different payment blocks. Then i would be able to use the conditional options you refer to above. I dont think that is an option though.
Your example is referring to a legacy form as well. I am working in the new layout.

Thank you for the explanation and providing us with more details of the requirement.
If you meant by two different payment blocks is to use 2 payment fields, it is currently not possible on the form. The form can only process 1 payment integration at this time.
But how about creating different payment blocks using sub products feature instead.
User guide: Create Sub-Products Based on a Product Option
You can set this up by having different 5 different main products which could serve as main categories.
And below each categories are the sub products which will serve as the different available items.
Here is a demo form I created base on this idea.
