If we were to create a form/guide in JotForm and then send our customers a link to open the guide and complete it, does our customer have to complete

I think your query has been truncated since you have placed your question on the subject line. But, if your question refers to the filling up of the form and for submission, making the field required will make it mandatory for your users to fill-up.
