Unable to change account's email address

Im trying to change my email address but the system is telling me that the email address I want ot change to already exists. However I have deleted that old email jot form account. But still it won't let me change it.

I want to change invoices@byronbayrespite.com.au to clare@byronbayrespite.com.au

Hi yes. I know it's connected to another account. As per my email I deleted that account so why is it still connected?
