Hi, I made a form for the registration of guests from a hotel, one of the thing a guest have to answer is the country they come from, what the problem is , is that I need to fill a monthly report which includes the amount of guests that came from the same place, for example: if 3 diferent guests came from Italy and 2 from Germany, In need to have that numeric data. In order to do that, at the moment to fill the from a guest uses a dropdown with a list of countries and chooses only one, so I have that one data per submission.
I asigned a value of 1 per country when they choose one, which is inserted on a text field with the same name of that country, all of this in order to sum each column on tables and have each individual amount of guests that came to the hotel and belong from the same country, but results that each value of "1" is not recognized as a number to do a sum with the summary tool. Please i dont if im gonna be able to solve the problem cause my solutin is not working because of that thing or if my solution is not efficient in order to get that data , can you help me?
Sorry if my english is not that good im practicing.
The form is this one: https://form.jotform.com/240945187979678

Hi reservascaith,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You're using the Short Text field to hold the number of times that the country is selected. This will always return the a string data type. The Sum function is will only calculate integer/number data type. Replace these Short Text fields with the Number field so you can get the sum in the submission table.
Also note that you can generate a report and download a graphical report which shows individual count of each option that are selected using the Summarize with a Chart feature. Let me show you how:
- Go to the Jotform Table.
- Click on the dropdown arrow on the right of the field "País de Residencia"
- Select the option "Summarize with a Chart".
- The chart appears on the right, the download button is at the upper right.
Visit also our guide on How to View Answer Summary Charts in Jotform Tables.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
