Hidden Fields Conditions in Classic Layout

I am trying to use the hidden fields with conditions in the classic layout. Does this work in the classic layout with page breaks or does it only work with the card layout?

    Hi Guesie,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Yes, it works in classic layout as well.  Let me show you how to set it up:

    1. On your My Forms page, hover your mouse over your form and click on Edit Form.
    2. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu and drag-drop the fields you want to use as follow-up questions (Short Text fields are used in this example).
    3. Click on the Type a Question text and change it to the question you want to use.

Now, let's set up the conditions:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Conditions on the left of the page.
    3. Now, click on Add a New Condition and then click on Show/Hide Field.
    4. Set the conditions like you see below:
    • IF: Do you have a dog or a cat? (this is the question that has the choice that the form submitter needs to select)
    • STATE: Is Equal To
    • VALUE: Dog (the first choice)
    • DO: Show
    • FIELD: What is the name of your dog? (the follow-up question that you want to show)

Set up Conditions for all of the choices for your question. Check out the screencast below to see how your form will work after setting up the Conditions:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Does this functionality work when there are page breaks? For me, with the page breaks the functionality doesn't seem to work with the hidden fields. When I click next, it just shows an empty box instead of skipping over hidden fields. Would you be able to look at my form to see what I am describing?

    Hi Guesie,

Thanks for getting back to us. The show/hide condition works the same from a classic layout and a card layout. This card layout shows the form fields in each separate card where if the field is hidden it will skip on to the next field automatically but for the classic layout it won't skip to the next field but instead would only hide the field inside the page making it look like you only have an empty box if all the fields are hidden.

If there are page breaks on the form that aren't hidden, it will only show the page breaks if all the fields are hidden. In the example below, I've temporarily hidden all the fields on page 2 but not the page break, this will show the page break on page 2 but wouldn't automatically skip to the next page where a field is shown, your users would still need to click on the next button to go to the next page.Hidden Fields Conditions in Classic Layout Image 1 Screenshot 20

Ah yes thank you! For the page break, does it require a condition as well?

    Hi Guesie,

Thanks for getting back to us. Yes, if there is only one question on the page, then we can use the Skip/Hide page condition so it will skip the page break as well. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Conditions on the left of the page.
    3. Now, click on Add a New Condition and then click on Show/Hide Field.

Set the conditions like you see below:
