    Hi Jotform,

We have 3 Jotform Questions in our account (11,17 and 46). The problem is the participant can choose 2 most and 2 least which is we only need them to pick 1 least and 1 most.
    Is there a
way to prevent the participants choosing 2 most and 2 least?

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, it is not possible for the Check box option. You can use a Drop Down list instead of the check box options. In this way, the clients will be able to select only one choice from the drop down list. Let me show you how:

    • In the Form Builder, go to the Input table field on the form.
    • Click on the Gear icon to open properties available with the Input table field.
    • Under the Fields tab, select Drop Down from the available options and set it up as shown in the screencast below

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hello Mahmoud,

I wanted to touch base regarding a potential feature enhancement for our platform. We're really interested in incorporating " to prevent the participants choosing 2 most and 2 least" to improve user experience and functionality.

Before we move forward, I'd like to clarify whether this is something you'd be able to develop for us relatively quickly?

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for getting back to us. Let me walk you through how to prevent the form responders from selecting more than one Most and more than one Least:

    1. Click the Gear icon on one of the Input Table fields.
    2. Go to the Fields tab of the right Input Table menu.
    3. Under Input Types, select Radio Button instead of Checkboxes. How to limit selections on the Input Table element? Image 1 Screenshot 50
    4. Make the Most and Least options the Rows.
    5. Make the categories the Columns instead. How to limit selections on the Input Table element? Image 2 Screenshot 61
    6. Navigate to the General tab of the Input Table menu.
    7. Select Require an answer on every row from the Required dropdown. How to limit selections on the Input Table element? Image 3 Screenshot 72

Follow the same steps for the rest of the Input Table elements on your form. After following the steps above, the form responders will be forced to only select one Most and one Least per category. Check out the screencast below to see what it looks like afterward:

How to limit selections on the Input Table element? Image 1 Screenshot 20That doesn't work because the same column cannot be selected for Most and Least.

This is VERY close, do you have any other options?

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for getting back to us. I understand the issue, but I’ll need a bit of time to work out a solution. I’ll get back to you shortly.

    Hello Ryan,

Thanks for patiently waiting. I'm afraid, in this case, it's not currently possible to prevent form responders from selecting the Radio Buttons from the same column. I also tested several form elements and widgets and the closest to your use case is the Orderable List widget, which would allow your form responders to arrange the categories from Most to Least, as seen in the screencast below:

    Hi Christian,

Unfortunately, we can't go with that design because this is for a personality test and the initial ordering will impact the results. This is for a research study we are conducting for a client for a consulting project.

Could Jotform build this functionality for us custom? If so, what would it cost and how long would it take for us to get access to this?

Is there any other options we can explore?

    Hi Christian,

Also, is it possible that we could hire Jotform or a Freelancer to build us a custom widget (or custom javascript) to enable this? We found this custom widgets approach.

    Hello Ryan,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, since the feature that you are looking is not available yet, what we can only do is to forward this to our Developer as a feature request.

I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know. As for your other question, I've moved that to a new thread. You can check that out here.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
