I have a dropdown question which has teacher names A,B,C,D etc to be selected.
Basis this selection let's say Teacher C, I want the next question to come on another page, which should be a checkbox question which should fetch student names of students who are under Teacher C from a sheet which has 2 columns a and b, wherein teacher names are in column a and student names which are under each teacher are in column b. Each teacher has around 7 students under them.
Is this possible in Jot Forms?

Hello Chirag,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. To achieve this, we can use the Show/Hide Conditional Logic. It's easy to do. Let me walk you through it:
First, let's set up the Dropdown and Multiple Choice field:
- In your Form Builder, click the Add Form Element from the left.
- Under Basic, look for Dropdown and Multiple Choice fields and drag it to your form.
- Duplicate the Multiple Choice field three times to ensure each teacher has a corresponding Multiple Choice field.
Now, let's modify the Dropdown options:
- Click the gear icon beside the field.
- Under Options tab, go to Options and type in Teacher A, B, C and D.
- Do these steps as well to modify the options for Multiple Choice field.
Make sure to hide the multiple choice fields first, by toggling on the Hide Field option under Advanced.
Now, let's work on setting up the Show/Hide Conditional Logic:
- In your Form Builder, click Settings from the orange tabs.
- Then, click Conditions from the left side of your screen.
- Choose Show/Hide Field and Enter the conditions as shown below and click Save.
Now, the corresponding Multiple Choice field will only appear depending on which option is selected from the dropdown field.
You can test my demo form here or clone it to copy the changes made. Or, you can check out the screencast below to see my results:
If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more, so I can help you better?
Give it a try and let us know if you need any other help.

Hi Lara,
Thank you for the reply.
But this would not help as there are 500 Mentors who each will have 7+ Students under them.
I would have liked that the list of students that comes in a checkbox, comes from a spreadsheet, when the person filling the form selects the teacher name, as the sheet will have a list of teacher to student names in columns a and b.Is this possible?

Hi Chirag,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You can use Spreadsheet to Form widget to get the students list from an Excel file. Let me show you how you can set up Spreadsheet to form widget:
- Open your form in Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
- Under the Widget tab, search Spreadsheet to Form, and drag/drop it on the form.
- In the menu that opens on the right side of the screen, click on Upload File to upload the Excel file, and select Access Code column.
Make sure to enter same element title as the column title in the Excel file for each entry. You can also use Dynamic Dropdown widget to create a grouped dropdown for teachers and students.
Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

Hi Arslan,
Thanks for the reply, but I think the problem is still unresolved.
Basically....
Q1 - Select Teacher name from dropdown of 500 teachers - "Teacher K"
Q2 - Now basis this Teacher K, names of 10 students under Teacher K, should populate as a checkbox question to mark attendance
Since there are 500 or more teachers, and I have a list of Teacher to Student mapping in a google sheet, which is also changing, I want the list of students to be taken real-time from this google sheet, using responses of "Teacher K" in Q1 , in real time.
Any suggestions?

Hi Chirag,
Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, we don't have a direct tool or feature to achieve what you want. We can only check and help you using workarounds.
I created a simple demo form with Teacher selection and showing Paragraph fields with student names matching the Teacher. Here is the link that you can check and test.
If that will work for you, let us know and we will guide you on how to do it.
