Hello,
We have noticed that some attachments are stripped before the email is sent to us and we get this message:
Attachments: Because the total size is more than 5MB the uploads are not attached.
It happens only occasionally, but is there a 5MB limit and is there any way to get past this?
Thank you,
Natalie

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. It is not possible to change the size of the attachments in emails. We are currently sending the emails via AWS SES, and it has a total size limitation. The attachment size is limited to only 5MB. The email will not be sent if the attachment exceeds the 5MB file size limit. This is a standard limit for all users. This will also help the email service be more reliable.
As a workaround, you can set up your own Custom SMTP Sender, and the attachment limit will be based on your email service provider. Here's how to do it:
- Go to your Account Setting and click on Add Sender Email.
- Fill up the fields using your SMTP credentials.
- Click on Test Email to check if everything is working.
- Click on Save Email.
Once you are done setting up your Sender Email, you can then proceed to use it for your Notification/Autoresponder email. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Settings.
- Click on Emails on the left side of the screen.
- Hover your cursor over the Notification email and click on the Pencil icon.
- Go to Advanced and scroll down to Sender Email.
- Select your custom Sender Email and click on Save.
Give it a try and let us know if you need more help.
