Chart to Autopopulate Text Boxes?

    Hi guys,

I've been doing some research into widgets and haven't found one that works best for my needs. Hoping I can explain what I'm trying to do and you can guide me into the right direction?

We have a number of items that need to be checked off a list (and select acceptable/unacceptable or yes/no) so in my mind the format of a basic input table is the best visually. However, I want text boxes to populate below if they select certain answers (which I know that input table cannot do).

We've tried to use configurable list before, but then you have to make a new/duplicate a widget for every item on the line. Ideally the text box only populates for certain answers (in this form that I've linked as an example, we only want text boxes to populate  if users select "unacceptable" so they are then forced to explain why).

Any insights or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks very much.

This is very much possible using the form. You need the following feature.

    1. Input Table field (matrix/chart table)

    2. Form Calculation widget

    3. Assign Calculation Value

    4. Conditions: Calculate/Update field value

How to Perform Form Calculation in the Matrix Field

I will create a demo form to show this. I'll update you shortly.

Hey - I'm sorry I was unclear in my description.

I'm looking for those text boxes to be hidden until someone selects "unacceptable" and then they populate below, but blank, so that the person can describe what the deficiency is.

So for instance, if I'm going through this inspection, and General Condition is selected as Acceptable, nothing pops up. But then lets say in row 2, Materials are in fact not stored properly, I would select Unacceptable, then a box would pop up below and I could explain how/or why.

Let me know if there's a way to make this work or if I should be using a different widget.

In that case use Show/Hide conditions instead.

Sorry to bug you again - I tried to replicate this for another section in the same form and I can't get them to populate when Unacceptable is selected! Where am I going wrong?

I cloned your form and was workig off that. Had no issue with adding in the other text boxes to populate form Chart 1 (Housekeeping). But now I can't figure it out for Chart 2 (ATV & Snowmobile)

I checked the calculation field for ATV & Snowmobile and it is blank.

Try adding the fields in the calculation field.

    Hey there,

    One further question -

When an input table has more than 2 options to select, how do you make the calculation populate a text box below based on one of those answers?

For instance this form: https://form.jotform.com/82406583578972 it has 3 choices. Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory, and N/A.

We are trying to make it so if they select unsatisfactory, they are forced to explain why in a text box below.

Do I have to just change my calculation? Or is it a different condition?
