Question about assessee id in submissions

For my form, Dashboard - Narrative Big Five Assessment - Finnish, there are 2 submissions that came in with a ">" on the end of the assessee id.  They did not get sent to our system from JotForm or accepted on our end.  These 2 are different with that ">" in the id.  One is Johanna Leskinen submitted on 3/27 with an id of "4686>". The other is Hannu Kainulainen on 3/29 with id of "4688>".  Please tell me how and why they got that symbol in the id.  Thank you, Caryn Lee

I saw the two submissions you mentioned. I wonder where the value comes from? I checked your form conditions and you're not even using unique ID widget.

Could you please show us where the value of the ID is coming from?

Perhaps, it's being prepopulated with another form, if so, please give us a URL form so we can look at it.

    We'll wait for your response.

I’m not sure how I tell you that? I don’t have a field for it.

I'm referring to this field (see screenshot below):

It is a short text entry field and you have no widget or conditional logic that will put a value there so I think it is being prepopulated by one of your forms. Can you tell us the name of that form?

Jotform, This is from my tech guy…
So yes we (meaning me in this case) added that field to the Jotform back when we moved to the new infrastructure - meaning when we moved to using the Dashboard system for actually sending the questionnaire links and generating the assessments. It is configured in the Jotform to take the URL query parameter passed as "?assesseeid=" and put it in that field, even though the user doesn't see the field itself nor is allowed to change it. We use that so that when we get the results from the Jotform submittal (via the webhook), that field is passed along and then that way we know the exact ID of the person who took the assessment.
Question is - that has and *is* working fine all the time, but for some reason with those two came across in the webhook with a ">" character on the end of it and that's the part we're not understanding the why of. You have verified that it seems by seeing that ">" added when you see the actual Jotform results too, but the field itself is a numeric one - there's no real way for that to be passed to the Jotform with that character, unless someone accidentally added that to the URL and copy/pasted it into a browser manually instead of using it as a link. That seems strange to expect that as what happened though since it was two people in the same project where this happened, but not any of the others.

Upon checking your form I can see you're using the Hidden Box element and pre-populating it through the URL as per your explanation.

Now, note that the undesired character may have been added due to several reasons, so far, we do not know how you're generating the URL and how the users get the link, if they receive an email with the URL, for example.

If you're using an app to pre-fill the variable then it may be that the hyperlink was generated incorrectly with that character.

You may provide more details about how you're doing that so we can understand better how your form works and perform some tests on our end.
