Is there any widget or a process that can validate user credentials in the form?

We would like to be able to validate a form submitters user credentials when the form is submitted.  For example, we have a field called 'Your Name' and want to confirm that the form submitter is actually who they say they are.  Is there any widget or process that you can recommend that can validate a user who is submitting our form?

    Thank you.

    Tom

    Hello Tom,

I'm afraid we do not have this kind of form validation. We also do have a feature where you can connect a field to an external database for offsite validation.

What we have is the validation of an email field using our email validator widget: https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/e-mail_validator.

Guide to add a widget in the form: https://www.jotform.com/help/252-How-to-Add-a-Widget-to-your-Form.

Please try that and let us know your feedback.

This widget does not do what I am looking for because the user can enter any email address they want and as long as it’s a valid email address they can proceed. Welvin, what about utilizing a user login to the site or does Jotform support unique login id’s for form users?
    Thanks!

Yes, if it's a valid email and they have the login to that, they can always proceed and validate their entry in the widget.

We do not have a feature that can connect to the site database, so I don't think that is possible. The other workaround I could think would be to dump all your website logins or usernames as excel, then use our Spreadsheet to Form widget to validate that.

    https://www.jotform.com/help/228-How-to-Integrate-Form-with-Google-Spreadsheet

I've created a demo here: https://form.jotform.com/91686089562976. Enter "Jotform" without quotes.

So, the username would be their gateway to continue filling up the form. The Username box is read-only which they cannot change, so if their username is not part of the list in the excel, they cannot proceed.

There is still a downside on this such as if the other party could guess the username.

I hope that works for you.

Welvin, very interesting. This could work although we would want to stay away from google sheets as the database to be called on. We currently use Jotform/Flow connector to publish jotform data to SharePoint lists. Can we use this connector with with jotform to validate in the other direction?
    Thanks Welvin!

Unfortunately, we can only pass data to external databases if possible with third-party connectors, so I don't think to validate from Sharepoint would work either. The Spreadsheet to Form should work, but you have to update that if new users are added on your website because the spreadsheet cannot connect to it.
