Form Encryption: Receiving encrypted form data is CSV and allow customer to decrypt

    Hello,

I'm adding forms to my site using Jotform to accept employee information.

This of course is highly sensitive with personal and financial data.

I understand that the data collected on the form is encrypted and emailed as a link. Can the form form data be encrypted and sent as an email attachment?

I'm trying to cut down on the number of processes that my code has to handle when receiving the form data.

Also, is the form data stored on Jotform servers and does it expire?

    thanks

    Tim

You can have it sent in PDF format as an email attachment with password protection. Here's how: Guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/503-How-To-Include-Submissions-As-PDF-Attachment-In-The-Email-Notifications

No, the data won't expire. However, you may be limited when you exceeded the 500 submissions storage limit with your free account. For a free account, you can only store up to 500 submissions in your account. If you receive more than that, the most recent 500 submissions will be kept and the rest will be deleted.

    Thanks for the fast response.

We could also use the data in a PDF format, but primarily need the data in a CSV for importing into our database. But this type of data must be secure.

After reading many other users questions there needs to be a feature to provide the download of a truly encrypted file containing the form data where the user provides the encryption key and level of encryption. Then the end user can decrypt the data on there own using  standard methods.

Is this going to be a possibility in the near future or is there some other method to accomplish the same thing?

    thanks

Please note that when you enable encryption in your form, the submission data export in excel or csv file is not supported. Do you mean to say that you want to download the encrypted form data in csv file and would like to decrypt it yourself?

I am not sure if that would be possible but we can create a feature request ticket and forward it to our backend team. Please confirm if this is what you want to achieve and we will create a feature request ticket.

We will wait for your response.

Yes that is a feature that I would like.

Just viewing the data collected on a form in a browser is useless to us.

We need the form data to be downloaded/transmitted directly from your server to our server in a secure package. We certainly accept the responsibility of decrypting and accessing the data once it's on our server.

We just need to agree/understand the method of encryption that you would use.

    thanks

    Hello Tim,

    Thank you for the confirmation.

I have forwarded your requirement to our back end team as a feature request to check the possibility of implementation. Please note that at the moment we will not be able to provide an ETA, but we will keep you posted on updates via this thread.
