I want to create a form where the person completing the form supplies an email address for a director of their company, so that the director will receive a copy of the completed form. I know how to set up the auto-email to the director's email address.

What do I have to do to enable the director to acknowledge receipt of that automated email?

    Many thanks.

You may add a single choice question to ask the director to accepts/acknowledge the automated email and once the director accepts, you can use conditions to send the autoresponder email.

    sample condition:

    Hi Richie_P,

I don't think that this is quite what I mean. The director will not be filling in the form - he/she will only receive an email notification when one of his/her staff has submitted the form. I am looking for a way that the director can acknowledge receipt of the email. Is there a way of ensuring a read receipt is sent when the director opens the email?

    Thanks,

    Mark

That is not possible. The director can reply to the email to notify the user who submitted the form that he read it or you can create an approval form. You can add an acknowledged field to the form for the director to fill. Once he receives the email, he can edit the submission check the acknowledged field and re-submit the form, which can then send an email to the user that submitted the form that the director received and acknowledged the submission.
