Bandwidth Exceeded

    Hello,

I am having trouble understanding your Jotform response shown here: Bandwidth Limit Exceeded for uploaded images (jotform.com)

it seems to conflict with what is shown here: Is there a bandwidth limitation per month? (jotform.com)

    Question:

I am using Microsoft Power BI to display the images from each submission. How Power BI displays the image is by simply visiting the JotForm URL for the image. Eg: 1613749865 602fde6956950 Screenshot 10

Since this link is download only, it may be downloading the image each time it displays it.

Does this mean that with a 10Mb jpg file I would receive a 'bandwidth exceeded' warning after 1000 downloads of this image into Power BI?

Is the limit per image? Or is there a general bandwidth limit for the entire account?

Do you limit both Upload bandwidth AND download bandwidth, or just one?

    Other Details

In a response by 'Charlie', he mentioned that "If you have file uploads on your form, I would advise taking advantage of the integrations we have related to 3rd party file sharing and storage services like Dropbox and Google Drive. With that, when a submission has been made, files are also uploaded there and you can access them there without worrying about bandwidth limit."

    source: Bandwidth Limit Exceeded. (jotform.com)

Right now, my form "[DEV] Incident Report Form - Business Owner" is integrated with google sheets and automate.io to Excel Online. My Power BI report links to both of these sources, but it still relies on the link provided in the File Upload widget to display images in my Power BI report.

Does the fact that I am using an alternate source change whether I have a bandwidth limit applied if the image is viewed too many times in Power BI?

I know this is complicated so I really appreciate your help :)

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to assist you.

    Warm Regards,

    Nolan

    Hey Nolan,

Thank you for contacting JotForm Support. We do apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced.

Please note that the first two support threads that you have shared have a 2-year gap between them. It seems that at one point JotForm did not have a bandwidth limitation, however, over time that was changed and a limitation was implemented.

To my understanding, the limitation is set to a maximum of 100 downloads per month for files that are 10MB or less, and 10 downloads per month for files that are 100MB or more.

Therefore, if your Automate.io webhook is sending the image download URL to your Powe BI platform and it is downloading the file each time, then those downloads will count towards the bandwidth limitation. However, I did a quick check on my end and I don't see that you have exceeded the bandwidth limit for the file link that you shared.

Are there other links you can share with us that are having this bandwidth issue? If so, please share them with us so we can review the download counter and reset it for you.

Additionally, for the response from Charlie in the last support thread, yes, a separate solution would be to utilize one of our file-sharing integrations to receive the file. You could then use the Google download link instead of the JotForm download link in your Power Bi platform to avoid the bandwidth limitation.

I understand this may not precisely fit the workflow that you are aiming for, but it would be a possible workaround for the bandwidth issue.

I hope this information is helpful, please do get back to us with the requested file URLs so we can try to resolve this issue for you. Looking forward to your response.

    Hello Felipe,

This was helpful, thanks. Few follow-up questions:

    1. Can you check the following image link to see how many times it was downloaded? https://www.jotform.com/uploads/nolancockburn/203148513019044/4896740896912072252/graffiti.jpg
    2. Eventually I plan to have an enterprise account. Once I do, are there options to set the amount of time that can transpire before Links or rows can get deleted?

    Many thanks,

    Nolan
