    How are the PayPal payments associated with the submissions?

    Hello,

    I am new to using PayPal as a form of payment on my forms and I wanted to know if and how Jot Forms tracks payments and connects them with specific form submissions.  I just want to make sure that there will be a way to connect a specific PayPal payment to a specific submitter.  For example, I am a educator who will be using the forms to collect registrations and payments for school dances.  The students will sign up for the dance but most likely a parent will be paying for the ticket.  Unfortunately, last names are not always the same between the two and so a payment on PayPal may not be easily linked to the students using last names.  Could you clarify and help me understand what to expect once payments begin?

    That is a very good question Dean.

    The payments are not associated with any public detail - email, last name and such. Instead all the payments need to be associated through something our system creates, so submission ID or some other private data (private to us) can be used to associate each payment with each submission.

    * I should say that I do not have access to the code that does this, so I can not check it and tell you the exact way it is done, but I can only tell you how this works in theory as having experience doing such things.

    So in short, you do not need to worry about the difference in names or any other details (for example if they use different email on PayPal, or if they make a mistake on their name, etc), all of this should be correctly connected one to another.

    These will help with the IPN (Instant Payment Notification) setup so that your form is always updated properly.

    * This is set only once for all of your forms within your PayPal account.
