About

The Cincinnati Zoo has been operating since 1875, making it one of the oldest zoos in the U.S. The zoo has continued to grow, and in 2010 it began working with Jotform to streamline data collection. Since then, Jotform has helped the zoo collect donations, organize customer travel, expand marketing efforts, deliver surveys, and much more!

Challenge

The Cincinnati Zoo is home to one of the most famous and beloved hippos in the world: Fiona. When Fiona’s baby brother was born, the zoo wanted the world to have a say in choosing his name. But how could the organization collect and process suggestions sent from people all over the globe?

Solution

With Jotform’s user-friendly drag-and-drop interface, the zoo was able to create a personalized name suggestion form and embed it in the Cincinnati Zoo website. Hippo fans from all over the world submitted name ideas. The zoo’s team exported and filtered the submission data, creating a clean list for zookeepers and marketing staff.

Results

In just two days, more than 90,000 submissions poured in from all 50 states and more than 60 countries. The zoo was able to quickly narrow down the suggestions to two favorite names, and it used Jotform again to let the public cast its final vote. An additional 200,000 submissions later, and baby Fritz was named!
