With Jotform, you can easily create Multilingual Forms to reach a wider audience and collect responses in different languages. You can add multiple languages to a single form and let users switch to their preferred language while filling it out.
This helps improve the user experience, makes your forms more accessible, and ensures respondents clearly understand each question. It’s a simple way to connect with people from different regions and gather more accurate responses.
Adding a Language to Your Form
You can add multiple languages to your form and allow respondents to switch between them while filling it out. To set this up, just follow these steps:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- Then, in the Form Settings window, click on Show More Options.
- Now, scroll down to the Form Languages section, and then click on Edit.
- Next, under the Languages tab, in the Translations section, click on Add Language.
- Then, click on the Select Language dropdown and then use the Search bar to quickly find the language you want to add. Or, browse the dropdown menu and select the language manually. For example, Español.
- Now, click on Add.
- Next, under the Field Translations tab, review and translate the fields that were not automatically translated.
Pro Tip
- Use the Search bar to quickly find specific fields you want to translate.
- You can also turn on Hide Filled Entries to show only the fields that still need translation.
- Finally, under the Form Warnings tab, translate any remaining messages that were not automatically translated and you’re done.
That’s it! You’ve successfully added a new language to your form.

Customizing the Language Selector
After adding your languages, you can adjust how the language selector appears on your form. Under the Settings tab, here’s what you can configure:
- Language Button Style — Choose how the language switcher is displayed on your form, such as text only.
- Detect Language — Toggle this on to automatically match the user’s browser language when they open the form.
- Show on First Page Only — Toggle this on if you want the language selector to appear only on the first page of your form.
Once everything is set up, your form is ready to reach respondents in multiple languages. The available languages will appear as a selector on the top-right corner of your form, allowing respondents to switch to their preferred language at any time before or while filling it out. After adding a language, is it possible to change the default language. I started my survey in Dutch, and now want to switch to English. But I cannot remove Dutch for it's the default language.. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

I would love to translate a form to French for our France-based team but how do I handle mapping to Salesforce for picklists etc. For example, even though I want 'Oui' as a picklist answer, I would like 'Yes' to be mapped to Salesforce. Is there a way to get around this? Thanks.

Outside of the basic information like Months and a few field, 90% of a form doesn't automatically translate even English to Spanish which should be fairly simple.

Yes, I have found this is not function for my needs as a teacher and has wasted a lot of my time. Most of the form that I created jotform was unable to translate. Bummer since I was so excited to easily translate forms for my students.

I embedded my form as an html on a wix-website and would like the language to change when the user is on the german or the english site. Is there a way to let this happen automatically? If it is not, is there a way to tell the form to show the version I want? I can change the code for english and german separately.
I saw that you can ad a code snipped to the url if you embedd it through an iframe or the javascript snipped but I can't use those because of some adjustments I had to make to the code.

This feature might be useful for basic forms such as contact forms, but I consider it essentially non-functional for anything with larger amounts of text (whole single sentences) like a short quiz. When trying to convert a form/quiz into Spanish almost every single field showed untranslated errors except basic fields requiring name and signature.
