Jotform’s Location Coordinates widget lets you capture precise latitude and longitude directly from your form. Users can select a point on a map or share their current location. This helps you collect accurate location data without manual entry.
Here are a few ways to use it:
- Collect exact locations for deliveries, visits, or fieldwork.
- Pin specific spots for incident reports or inspections.
- Record event or project locations more accurately.
- Gather map-based input for surveys or research forms.
Things to Get in Place First
You’ll need your Google Map API Key to set up the Location Coordinates widget. If you’re not sure where to find this, check out our guide on How to Get Google Maps API Key for Jotform Mapping Widgets? to learn more.
Whether you’re starting fresh or updating a form, adding and setting up the Location Coordinates takes only a few steps. Here’s a quick how-to:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side of the page.
- Now, in the Form Elements menu, under the Widgets tab, search for Location Coordinates and click on it. Or, just drag and drop it to where you want it to be on your form.
- Next, in the Widget Settings window that opens on the right side of the page, under the General tab, set up these things:
- Theme — Choose a visual theme that matches the look and feel of your form.
- Google Maps API Key — Paste your Google Maps API Key here to enable map functionality and location pinning.
- Show CSV in Submission Data — Enable this option if you want the latitude and longitude values to appear in CSV exports of your form submissions.
- Once everything’s set, click on Update.
That’s it. You’ve successfully added and set up the Location Coordinates widget on your form. Want to see how it works? Check out this live demo form.
