PDF Submission: Hide empty fields when downloaded

Hello. I have a form with supressed fields. When I download and print the completed form as a PDF, the printout includes those areas of the form that were suppressed. How can I get the form to print, without suppressed fields?

I have included the link below. I am able to not include blank fields when I view the form, or download one form. But, how can I change that setting to not include blank fields when downloading and printing a batch of forms?

    Hi Dotsy,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that you want to hide the empty fields when downloading the submission as a PDF document. I cloned your form and made a submission test, but only the invoice is being downloaded. So I made another document, from the PDF Editor. Let me walk you through it:

    1. In the Form Builder, click on the menu tab beside the Jotform name on top of the page, and select PDF Editor.
    2. From the PDF Editor, click on +NewPDF and select New PDF Document. PDF Submission: Hide empty fields when downloaded Image 1 Screenshot 60
    3. Click on the Gear icon on the right side of the page.
    4. From the PDF Settings, under the Advanced tab, you will see that Hide empty form fields is checked. This is because by default the empty fields are automatically hidden from PDF form submission. PDF Submission: Hide empty fields when downloaded Image 2 Screenshot 71

    Now, to download batch forms:

    1. In your Jotform Tables, click on the Download All button on the upper right side of the page.
    2. Select New Document. A confirmation message on Creating a zip file will pop up, click on Ok, Got it. PDF Submission: Hide empty fields when downloaded Image 3 Screenshot 82
    3. From the email that you will receive, click on Download Your PDFs.PDF Submission: Hide empty fields when downloaded Image 4 Screenshot 93

    Here is the result:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

That is close, but not quite. On my form, a person chooses which program they will attend. Then, the form brings them to the correct section of field trips, according to their choice for which program. However, when I print the PDF, if a person chooses K-4th, Spring Street, the PDF ALSO prints info on Maple Avenue field trips, as well as info about the Discovery Program - both of which are suppressed when person chooses K-4th on the form.

Once I download a batch of forms, and the email is sent to me, I opened the zip file - but can't open the individual PDF's - any idea why?

    Thanks, Dotsy

    Hi Jericho22,

Thanks for getting back to us. I cloned your form and tried to replicate the issue, but the PDF submission report only shows the chosen answer. Check out my result in the screenshot below:

I noticed that you created several PDF reports. Try to print the New Document 3 PDF report. Also, take a screenshot of the error message that you're getting when you open individual PDF's. Check the steps and screenshot below on how to add a screenshot in your reply.

    1. Click the Add Image button.
    2. A. Paste the image URL or upload the image from your device.
      B. Click the Add button to post the image on your thread.

Here's the thing. When a person chooses Maple Avenue, grades 5-9, for camp location they should NOT see the field trip info for Spring Street. See bottom of page 4/top of page 5. Also - they shoudl NOT see the part about the Discovery program. In the form, if they choose Maple, those areas are skipped.

    Hi Jericho22,

Thanks for getting back to us. Conditional Logic do not work on PDF submission reports. That means, any conditions that you created in your form will not affect the elements and fields in PDF Editor. If based on the form, the field should be not on the PDF, then you will need to manually edit the PDF submission report, and remove the field in question before you print it. Check this page on how to edit the forms PDF submission report.
