How can I copy the entry of a dropdown selection to another field?

    Hi,

I have a dropdown field I want the response the end user clicks to copy into a short text field. I know there is a 'Update/Calculate Field' option, but this is copying the calculation value to that field and not the actual selection over.

    Hi WagnerAustralia,

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. I assumed you're referring to your ''Clone of Tax Time Cashback_AU 2024'. I have checked the form, but I am not seeing any Update/Calculate field from your condition. Please note that you can pass the value of a Dropdown field to a Short Text field by using the Conditional Logic feature. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Conditions.
    3. Choose Update/Calculate Field condition type.

    • Here's the condition that you can use:

Take a look at the screencast below for the result:

    Hi,

Thanks for helping me. I had tried that out, but as we the field 'Which product are you claiming CASHBACK for?" has calculation values attached to the entries, it copies over the calculation value and not the selection made by the user. I want the selection of the user to be copied across and not the value attached to it

    Hi WagnerAustralia,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm sorry you're having issues with your form. Unfortunately, when the options in the dropdown has assigned values, the “Update/Calculate” condition will always copy the value and not the text.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

    Hi Carrissa,

So in this form, we have two fields where the end-user can select product. This is dependent on a conditional field.

The two fields are 'Which product are you claiming CA$HBACK for?' and 'Which sprayer are you claiming Wagner Acessories for?". Both these fields are populated with products that consumers can choose from. As we have two fields populated with products, this makes it impossible to integrate both into Hubspot integration as each field in Jotform can only be linked to one column in Hubspot.

Is there any way I can have both of these fields integrated into one column through Hubspot integration?

    Hi WagnerAustralia,

Thanks for getting back to us. A workaround is to insert the text or options conditionally rather than copying the field value to another field. Let me show you how:

    • First, you must add 2 short texts for both fields, followed by 1 short text for HubSpot to get the value of the two fields.

    • Below is what the conditional logic looks like. You only need to copy and paste the options one by one and create a condition like this for each one.

Image 3 Screenshot 82Once you've completed this for Which product are you claiming CA$HBACK for? and Which sprayer are you claiming Wagner Acessories for? fields. We will now combine the two short texts and send them to the single short text that will be mapped for your HubSpot integration.

How can I copy the entry of a dropdown selection to another field? Image 4 Screenshot 93I understand it will be a lot of work because there are so many options for both fields. However, this is the only way for options with assigned values to send the value to another field. Note that you can hide these fields in your form. Check out this form and my screencast below to see how it works:
