Encryption of form, submission and email.

    Hello -

I would like to collect account information using a form with Jotform. I understand that your site is secure, but I am concerned that when you email client responses, I lose that security by having it delivered to a gmail account.

Looking at your security FAQ's, it looks like encryption could solve this problem. However, when I follow the directions to turn on encryption, the option does not exist in settings.

    1. Is there another way to achieve my objective? I would be happy to have to logon to jotform to retrieve my client's responses.

    2. Is encryption possible, and if so, how do I access it?

    Thank you for your time,

    Liz Smith

    Hi there, Liz!

Thanks for reaching out to us!

You can receive email notification(s) upon every submission received through form. You can also set auto-responder email(s) to be automatically sent to respondent upon submitting form.

    Related guides:

Those emails are also secured using TLS protocol, which is an industry standard.

Also, kindly note that all forms and submission are secured by default using industry latest standards. You may refer to our security page found here.

Moreover, if you would like to, you can also encrypt your forms as an extra layer of security following this guide. Please note that when encryption is enabled, some form features get disabled due to encryption security measures. For example:

    1. You can not view submissions at all unless they've been decrypted using the decryption key you would have.

    2. Emails will be encrypted as well. If the data was sent without encryption, there would be a log of the data in plain text, which would go against the purpose of having encrypted data.

I hope I have been of any help.

Should you have any further inquiries, we will be more than happy to help.

Thank you, but I have read the guide, but the option for encryption does not appear in the place that the guide directs me to.

Is it possible that encryption is only available for some types of forms?

Otherwise, I think your guide is out of date.

We apologize for inconvenience. From what I understand, you were referring to the Form Encryption feature.

Please take note that Form Encryption is not applicable on PDF converted forms.

Your form https://www.jotform.com/form/201215792775055 was an imported PDF form using the PDF Converter tool from your original PDF document.

The PDF form will not work anymore if form encryption will be used.

You can use Form Encryption on forms you created using the Form Builder.

I hope this help. Please let us know if you need further assistance.
