    Hi,
    1) How does this feature work?
    Send on Edit
Users can get a new email every time the form submission is edited.
    2) also, if i use password for attachments sent in auto responder, say if i
would upgrade to hipaa, how can recipients know the password how to open
    them?
    Thanks,

Send on edit, this feature would send another email to the form respondent or form owner once the submission is edited.

For the PDF attachment password, you can add the password in the autoresponder email content.

Thank you. Edited where? Does this mean if i go into the submissions table
and add a data field to their entry, they get notified automatically?
for example, if they sign up for a test and then i add the test result
into the submission table, the person who sumbitted the form gets an email
    with that info?

Please note that if you edit the data directly in any cells of JotForm table, it won't trigger any notification email. If you edit submission with edit link or by clicking on the "Edit Entry" option and submit form, it will trigger all the email alerts in which "Send on Edit" option is enabled. Please check the screenshot below on how to edit submissions received in form:

thank you. is there a way that the second email that gets sent can have a
diff subject line - like UPDATED TEST RESULT INFO or something? Also, does
this feature work with hipaa compliance? i would like to be able to add
peoples test results to the form and then have it automatically send them
    an email with that info.
