Identifying Paypal Payments

Hi, Can you let me know if theres an area in the payment settings where we can specify how certain payments are specified? For example, if we're having a bake sale, we would like those paypal payments to come through to us as Bake sale.. or Book Fair.. etc.. we have many forms right now that use paypal but alot of the times we get payments and we dont know what they are for. Some forms will come through with what it is but most dont.. Which leads me to think its perhaps the way the payments settings are created.

Maybe theres a field to specify how payments are titled?

    Thanks

    Hi ssdsforms,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I am not entirely sure what you are referring to. Could you provide us with an example so that we can get a better idea and provide you with better assistance? Check out this guide about how to send a screenshot to our Support Forum.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.

    Hi,

Theres nothing to take a screenshot of . If someone pays you via paypal for a bake sale that you hosted, you'll get an email from Paypal that says "You Received a Payment from John for $20 for 'Bake Sale'. "

If you hosted a book fair it would say you received a payment for "Book Fair"

Since we have so many forms that accept paypal payments, we are just receiving emails from Paypal that say "you received a payment for $100". But we have no clue what that $100 is for. Bake Sale? Book Fair?

My question is is there a way to specify or a field to fill out in the Payment Settings that will note what these payments are for.

    Thanks

    Hi ssdsforms,

Thanks for getting back to us. I'm afraid your request is not possible at this time, unfortunately, we have no workaround on how to customize the email sent by PayPal. I am not sure if it would help but you can try to reach out to PayPal customer support.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can do for you.

Thanks, i understand you have no control over the PayPal emails but we do have some forms within Jotform that do come back to us from Paypal with a reference of what form it applies to. So i thought maybe in the Payment settings or Advanced settings there might a be field that Paypal uses as a reference for that type of thing. Thanks.

    Hi ssdsforms,

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you send us a screenshot of the email from PayPal so that we could check? We have a guide here explaining how to do that here.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

I am very interested in this response too, from JotForms!

We would like to identify a transaction "by type" or "by activity". For example, we have one form for people to sign up for membership, another form to register for an event, another form to buy a sponsorship. Is there a way to tag or identify each transaction by type/activity, so when we are reconciling our Paypal account, we know what each transaction was for?

For example, for membership: is there any consistency with the transaction ID or payment confirmation generated?
