Changing the words "Please Select" in a dropdown question

    Hello,

I'm building a form in Spanish. When I drag a dropdown question into my form, currently the default answer is "Please Select". See the screenshot I attached.

I looked around in Properties because there's usually options in there for changing any text I can see in any element, but I can't seem to find anything that is controlling the "Please Select" text. How do I change that text "Please Select" to the equivalent in Spanish?

    Thank you,

    Jill

    Hello Jill,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Currently, the "Please select" text on the dropdown field is not possible to be translated. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

    Hi Jill,

Thanks for getting back to us. I checked your form and found that you are not using the Jotform Translation feature but using conditions to control the form language. My colleague mentioned that this is not possible using the Jotform translation feature; however, it is possible to change the placeholder text by following the steps and screencast below:

    1. In Form Builder, click on any Dropdown field.
    2. Click on the Gear icon on the right side of the field.
    3. In the Dropdown Properties menu, click on the Options tab and scroll down to the Show text in Empty Option, to add the text in a different language, and that’s it. You're done.

Here's the cloned version of the form that you can test.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.
