Tables columns: Out of order

  • JanieFisher

    Please help!

The columns are not downloading in the same order that they are on the form builder. I re-labeled the categories on the form builder to try and sort it out, but the edited titles don't appear on the download spreadsheet.

Also some data is not appearing in the spreadsheet: "division" and "category" are blank even though data has been submitted.

    Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Jotform Support. I understand that you're having issues with the order of the columns of your table. When I cloned and tested your form, after viewing the submission in Jotform Table, it seems everything is in order.

If the issue persists in your form, you may consider managing your columns. You may click the icon right after the name of your tables tab and click Manage Columns. From here, you can manage your table columns depending on your order of preference.

Regarding your additional query about the data not appearing in the spreadsheet, I need to move them to a separate thread to avoid confusion. You may click here to redirect.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.

The order of columns in the table is still completely out of order for me. And the edited titles do not appear. I’ve closed and re-opened the program three times to check. I tried to re-order in the dropdown columns editor, but they always revert to this mixed-up order.

    Hello Janie,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that the columns in your table are out of order. You've tried to fix it in the dropdown columns editor but it does nothing.

I've tried reordering the columns in my test forms and it is saving the changes. I think this is more of a local browser issue. Would it be okay if we try to edit the column and re-order it based on the order of fields in your form? This will help us to understand better what is going on.

Before that, log out from your account and then clear your browser cache and site data. Log back in to see if it makes a difference.

Keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help.

Yes I would be grateful if you would re-order the columns. I have logged out, cleared the cache, logged back in - but unfortunately this didn’t change the problem.

    Greetings,

Before we proceed, I would like to confirm if you have tried viewing your forms table using another browser.

Please confirm so we can save the current issue for future reference and see if other users might be affected.

I also coordinated your request to reorder the form based on the order of fields.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.

    Greetings,

Regarding your request, please note that you can create a new tab and connect it with the same form. After that, it should create a default order of your fields. Let me show you an example.

Thank you, I will try this. But I can’t re-order the columns without the correct labels. On the form builder, there are identifiers on the labels such as T2, T2-2, before the category name, etc. On the submissions table, these labels (T2, T2-1) are not showing. I will now be able to sort the correct data to the corresponding routines without those labels.

    Hello Janie,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. We're glad to know that you're able to sort the table columns now.

I understand that it won't display the entire form label in the table column labels. I suggest renaming the table column. There's a drop-down arrow on the right of the column label, click on it and select the option Rename Column.

Give it a try and keep us updated and let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you for responding,
I saw how to rename the columns. My problem is knowing which is which, ie there are four columns labeled “category”. On the form, these are labeled T2, T2-2, etc. Without these labels, I don’t know what name to give them to make sure they are sorted to the correct routine. Not being able to correctly sort them will be a disaster, we will have 125+ routines entered, and I’m getting worried….
Can you help me with this?

    Hello Janie,

Thanks for getting in touch. I suggest doing it the other way, editing the form label instead. The form label has the right label but try to remove the missing letters. select a different field and then go back to edit the field again adding the missing letters back. The changes you made should reflect in your Submissions table.

Also, I suggest downloading the submission data to have a backup. This won't affect data on the table as I've tested on a cloned version of your form but let's be sure nothing will be lost if ever there's a glitch in your submissions table. Here's our guide on How to Download Form Submissions as Excel, CSV, or PDF.
