    Hello,

Calculating the number of different answers in a single-choice field is a straightforward process, but it depends on the context and tools you are using. Here's an in-depth explanation of how to do it:

Using a Survey or Form Platform:

    1. Collect Responses: First, create your survey or form with the single-choice field. Share it with your respondents and gather their responses.
    2. Access Response Data: Most survey or form platforms provide a dashboard or data analysis tool where you can access the responses submitted by respondents.
    3. View Summary or Analytics: Navigate to the summary or analytics section of your survey platform. Look for options that display response statistics.
    4. Count Unique Responses: In this section, you'll often find a summary of the different answer choices for your single-choice field. The platform should automatically count the number of respondents who selected each option.
    5. Calculate Total Responses: Add up the counts for each answer choice to find the total number of responses for that single-choice field.

Using Spreadsheets (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets):

If you're collecting responses manually or want to perform calculations outside of a survey platform, you can use a spreadsheet tool like Excel or Google Sheets to calculate the number of different answers:

    1. Input Data: Enter the responses you've collected in a spreadsheet column. Each cell should represent one respondent's answer.
    2. Remove Duplicates: If multiple respondents selected the same answer, you may want to remove duplicate entries to count unique responses. In Excel, you can use the "Remove Duplicates" feature.
    3. Calculate Unique Responses: After removing duplicates, count the number of remaining rows or cells to determine the number of different answers.
    4. Calculate Total Responses: If you also want to calculate the total number of responses (including duplicates), count all the rows or cells before removing duplicates.

These methods allow you to easily calculate the number of different answers in a single-choice field, whether you're using a survey platform or spreadsheet software. The choice of method depends on your data and analysis requirements.

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks for patiently waiting. If I understood you correctly, you want to tally the number of E, A, I, and S answers in your form. If so, I'll walk you through setting that up:

    1. Instead of letters, assign a number value in each option.

    2. Add Number fields for each option and question. In my example, I used the value E and S from your question number 1 and use it as a label name to avoid confusion.

    3. Then, create an Update/Calculate Field condition to copy the assigned value from the option selected to its respective Number field.

    4. Now, add 4 Form Calculation widgets and add all Es, As, Is and Ss values in each widget.

For demo purposes, I only created 4 questions and changed the layout to Classic form. Check out my results in the screencast below:
