Not displaying correctly the values on the form

I imported a PDF form to create my Quilt Show entry form (see build link below). Most of it worked beautifully and accurately. However the "Choose Category" field has cut off some of the category descriptions that are very important -- part of the width criteria in parentheses. I've tried to go into the Properties settings and update the listing of the categories there to get them to show properly on the form but that isn't working. Thinking that there may be a character limit on the option descriptions, I even tried on Category 6 abbreviating the description so it wasn't as long but that didn't work either. Please tell me what the solution is!! I can abbreviate to some extent but nothing I am doing is getting my changes reflected on the actual form.

    Hi Asheville,

Thanks for patiently waiting. I cloned and tested your form to replicate the issue and it shows that I can put some text on the parenthesis. Can you please try to edit your form or put some text on the categories that were cut? Take a look at the screencast:

Yes, I was also able to type data into the form and into the Options box in Properties. The problem was that after I did that and went into Preview mode, I could not see the changes I had just made. They weren't there. I even tried hitting "Publish" and then viewing the form and the changes didn't appear. Can you try taking it that far and see what happens?

    Hi Asheville,

Thanks for getting back to us. I cloned your form and tested it to see if I could replicate the issue, but everything was visible in preview mode after inputting some characters in the Choose Category field. Check out the screencast below to see my results:

I also cleared your form caches as a precaution and you can do that on your end too. Can you give it another try and let us know what happens? If you're still having the same issue, we'll do a more in-depth investigation and work on finding a solution.

Reach out to us if you have any questions.

I tried clearing my caches in Jotform and in my browser. I also restarted my laptop. Nothing is working for me. I built this form by importing it from a PDF form. Could that be the source of the problem? Should I try deleting this particular field and building it from scratch? The original list of field choice text options is available in a Word doc and could be copied and pasted in to a new field fairly easily if that's an option so I don't have to retype them all.

    Hi Quiltshowentries,

Thanks for getting back to us. Please note that when deleting a field, the submission data along with the field will also get deleted. Before deleting the field, please download your submission data. You can also, set to hide the field instead of deleting. Let me show you how:

    1. In the Form Builder, click on the Gear icon to access the field properties. Not displaying correctly the values on the form Image 1 Screenshot 30
    2. Select the advanced tab, scroll down and set to Hide the field. Not displaying correctly the values on the form Image 2 Screenshot 41

I also tried deleting and re adding the field on a cloned form, you can check out the cloned form here. You can clone and edit this form to your preference.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the caution about deleting! So far I just have test entries but would like to keep them for download testing. I will get back to this later today or tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks for your help!!

Sorry for taking so long to respond and reactivate this issue -- I was out of town and then sick with Covid :((

As you suggested I have cloned my 2024 entry form. I have also restarting my machine and cleared my cached. I have also hidden the original field and started on the cloned form inputting a new field. When that didn't work, I switched to a different browser. I am STILL having the same issue. If you look at the new cloned form and the new field now where I've started reinputting the options in the field, you will see that it cut off the data I input after the first parentheses on option three but did NOT do that for option 4 -- that makes NO SENSE!! I was initially thinking it was a data length issue but it wouldn't be that if it's letting option 4 be longer than option 3.

Then I tried getting rid of the parentheses and using a comma before the measurements instead thinking the form didn't like the parentheses. That still didn't work. So I am at a total loss as to what is going on here.

I REALLY do NOT want to have to build this whole form from scratch only to find that I have this same problem. So I created a new "Test Form" and just added this field data to the new "Test Form" to see what it would do in a brand new form created from scratch and its doing the exact same thing -- as you will see when you look at this field in the Test Form there seems to be no pattern to which line items are cut off and which line items are shown in full. All I can assume at this point is that you have a bug in your program that needs to be fixed.

    HELP!!!!!!!!

I CANNOT roll out this form (which is due by the end of March) without this problem being fixed!!!!!!

I went to my new test form, typed in data on a couple of lines in the field, then hit "preview" and the data I typed in disappeared.

I hate to be a pest but, as I mentioned in an earlier post about this issue, my due date for getting this entry form online is March 31st. Our website has been telling our entrants for several months to check back then and the forms will be posted! Can you please stress the urgency of this fix to your management and the developers and get me an estimated delivery date for the fix OR tell me who I need to contact to get this done??!!

If I roll out the form without this fix (ie without the info in parentheses) , we will have NUMEROUS errors in the form submissions.

Thanks for getting back to us. There haven’t been any updates yet. I know that it’s taking some time to resolve and that is very stressful. I’ve marked this as a Priority and reached out to our Developers again.

We’ll let you know as soon as there is an update. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I need some sort of estimate of when this problem will be fixed by Friday of this week so that I know how to update our website. On Friday I will have to replace our current message with a new anticipated delivery date for the entry forms. That will be totally dependent on when Jotform can give me a fix on this issue as this is the last thing on the form I have to do to be ready to roll it out.
