How to conditionally display an image and include it in the email based on the user's response?

We're evaluating Jotform to sign up for a paid account but there is one feature we cannot get to work. We'd like our form to show a user an image based on their selection. For example, a drop down menu with conditional logic added that will result in a hidden image showing up based on the drop down answer they select. Note that your Image Choices widget could work for our purposes as well (ie that a user can see an image for their selected answer).

We can get either of those solutions to work on a form but the big issue is the hidden image that gets shown does not show up in the email (or in your results table). It is the same issue for your Image Choices widget; in that case only records the text answer.

Those hidden image fields aren't accessible in your email template editor either, so it's not like we can somehow include them there.

See the attached image... at left the form with the controlling drop down question and some hidden image fields. At left, the email response; the image is not shown.

Is there any way to make this work so that the email shows the associated image based on the users selection?

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for waiting. I checked your form but I am not quite sure about the other elements you already added. So, I will give you the steps to achieve your goal using my simple demo form and you can apply the steps to your form. Let me walk you through the process:

    • Add your images using the Image element.

    • Add a Hide/Show conditional logic to display the corresponding image based on the selection from the dropdown field. In my demo, here are the two conditions I added:

    • For your reference, here's the output in the live form:

    • Next, you need to customize your autoresponder email and insert the images. Here's the template for the "cat" option:

    • Create another autoresponder email template for the "dog" option and add the image of the dog in the template. Take note that you can only have one autoresponder starter plan, so you may have to upgrade to use this feature.

    • Do the same for the "dog" option.

Here's my demo form, you can clone it so you can check the settings of it for your reference.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Thank you, this makes sense and I appreciate you finding a solution. It will be a fairly onerous one in that we have quite a few selections/images, about 22 or so, so that's 22 different autoresponders. From a design perspective it seems odd that any data valuable enough to show the user is left off after the fact in recording submissions.

Nonetheless, how many autoresponders are you allowed on the various plans? I cannot find that information. We were looking at the Bronze plan for now and if that can't have enough autoresponders than this solution still does not work for us and we may have to use another platform. Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back to us. Once you upgrade to any of the paid plans, there's no limit to the number of emails and conditions you can add to your form.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
