How do the respondents edit their form entries?

I have a form that users will complete and if they own a second facility, I want them to complete the same form, but skip the majority of the questions (because they answered them the first time around). I know I can change the thank you page and prefill some of the data, but users still have to move through most of the questions they've already answered.

If they answer 'yes' to the last question, I want them to fill out the same form, but only the Company Name and the last section (agricultural operation site specific questions).

    Thank you,

    Ariana

    Hello Ariana,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support and we’re sorry you’re having trouble with this. I understand your form request, I recommend giving your respondents access to the edit link for their submitted form so they do not have to fill out any more fields that had already been filled. Let me show you how:

    1. Open your form in Form Builder, and in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.

    2. In the Settings menu, click on Emails and hover your mouse over the Autoresponder Email.

    3. Click on the Pencil icon, and in the window that opens, click on the Form Fields dropdown menu and select Edit Link.

    4. After adding the link, click on Save, and you're done.

Please note that respondents can edit their form entries anytime. We also have a guide about How to Let Users Update Their Entries Later that you can check out. If you have hidden the fields that your respondents must fill out, when they click the edit link, these fields will become visible.

Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

Thanks, but that isn't the issue I need solved. What I need is for everyone to fill out the entire form and then some of them need to fill it out again, but I'd like them to skip most of the questions the second time around.

I tried to use the "fill again" option and pre-fill, but it only allows some questions to be pre-filled, so they're stuck filling out unnecessary questions. So, I'm still stuck.

    Hello Ariana,

Thank you for getting back to us. Just to confirm, do you mean that the first user who will fill up the form has to answer all the questions? And when they have a second facility, as you have mentioned, then it has to be forwarded to that facility and fill out again the agricultural operation site specific questions fields? If so, yes, it is possible by using the Edit Submission Link as initially suggested by my colleague. However, in this case, you may need to add Auto Responders with Edit Link for the second user who needs to fill up the form so they can access the entire form that has already been filled out. You may also add an email logic to execute this.

If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more so I can help you better?

    Hi,

Typically, one person will fill out the whole form. Then, if they happen to operate more than one facility, they will need to complete a second set of agricultural site questions.

Ideally, I'd like them redirected back to the form, but either prefill the original information, or find a way to skip almost everything but the site specific questions.

Also, out of curiosity, why did the subject of my question change?

    Hello Ariana,

Thank you for getting back to us. Kindly note that the thread title has been updated, as it has to be relevant to the thread issue. Moving on to your query, as you mentioned skip, do you want the fields skipped hidden? Or still visible when the form is opened? If you want it hidden, you can add 'Get Page URL Widget' and set a condition wherein if the URL contains edit, then it will hide a set of fields according to your requirement:

How do the respondents edit their form entries? Image 1 Screenshot 20 However, if you want the fields intact, then giving them the direct Edit Submission Link will be the best option.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
