    Hi,

Can you please explain the exact functionality of the barcode scanner widget?

Once the scanner reads the barcode, can it save the result in a separate field on the form?

    Thank you!

We would be glad to assist you, the functionality of this widget is to scan barcodes, and the information will be visible in the submissions page and/or email notifications.

Yes, you can save the result in a separate field if you want to, you can use the Form Calculation widget to capture it:

    Thank you!

Now, once I have the result captured in a separate field, can I use that value to populate additional fields, with the Spreadsheet to Form Widget, using the barcode result as the unique identifier?

    You are welcome!

In regards of passing the value to the Spreadsheet to Form widget, this can be possible through conditions, example: https://www.jotform.com/help/286-How-to-Pass-Field-Value-to-Another-Field

    1561571349value Screenshot 10

Explanation: the condition passes the value from my Form Calculation widget called "Value"(which captures the result of the Barcode) into the Spreadsheet to Form widget.

    See how it works:

Note: in my example you see an error, because the Barcode result is not listed in the Excel file that is uploaded in my Spreadsheet To Form widget.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.
