Using the Import tool for HIPAA compliant accounts

    How long from the import results showing successful creation of submissions and field until the data shows up in the Jotform submissions?

    Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Normally, it shows immediately. Are you having problems with this feature? You're currently contacting us from a guest account, and I am not able to find any forms. Can you provide us with the form URL, so we can investigate what's going wrong?

    After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

    Hi TulsaYMCA,

    Thanks for getting back to us and providing us with the form URL and a screenshot. That message with the results should be the signal that the import has finished. The imported entries should now appear in your Jotform Tables. Can you try to double-check and let us know how it goes? I also went ahead and cleared your form caches from our server as a precaution.

    Hate to deliver bad news but clearing the cache had no effect. We attempted another .xlsx, .csv and .xls template import this morning:

    Each one attempted import gave us the same results created message, but no imported submissions are appearing on the form's table:

    Hi TulsaYMCA,

    Thanks for getting back to us. Sorry for the confusion. I just checked your account and found out that it is HIPAA-compliant. Please note that the import tool will not work with HIPAA-compliant accounts. As a workaround, you can use the Jotform Table to import your data. Let me show you how:

    • Go to your My Tables page and click on Create Table on the top-left side of the page.
    • In the window that opens up, click on Import Data.
    • Click on Choose a File From Your Device and then choose your file.

    • Click on Import Data.
    • Choose the Column Type, click on Complete, and you're done.

    We appreciate you providing details on why the import would not work for us. I would recommend updating your help article with that information: https://www.jotform.com/help/308-import-app-easily-import-your-excel-or-csv-data-into-jotform/


    Your work around will not work in our situation because we also cannot copy rows in a jotform table from one tab to another tab. We were attempting to use the import feature to add submissions to an existing tab so it would be included with our other data from that same form.


    It's disappointing that there's no current solution that would meet our needs but thank you for the information..

    Thanks for getting back to us. We're sorry you're having difficulty with this. While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. 

    I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Development Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
