In Jotform, you can easily include a ranking question using the Orderable List widget, which lets users drag and drop options from a predefined list to create their rankings. A ranking question adds depth to your survey forms by asking respondents to rank options according to their preferences, priorities, or importance. This feature helps you gather more detailed insights than simple yes/no questions.
Whether you’re building a new form or editing an existing one, you can add a ranking question in your form using the Orderable List widget in just a few steps. Here’s how to set it up:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side of the page.
- Now, in the Form Elements menu, under the Widgets tab, search for Orderable List and click on it. Or just drag and drop it to where you want it on your form.
- Next, in the Orderable List Widget Settings menu that opens on the right side of the page, under the General tab, replace the options from the List Items box with the options for your ranking question.
- Once you’re done, click on Update.
That’s it! You’ve now successfully added a ranking question using the Orderable List widget to your form. To see how the Orderable List widget works in different form layouts, check out Classic or Card Forms.

Orderable List widget is much worse than Microsoft Forms in both style and user experience.

Sadly, I was unable to have the ranking options that i entered into the LIST ITEMS portion of the General widget tab display in the draft survey. The question I entered as a prompt disappeared after beginning to type it in and I only was able to display it when entered manually into the Settings of the widget itself. I'm currently using Firefox 141.0 on a Mac. Thanks!
