Is there not a tool to sync the fields in one form to another form that builds the URL parameters? I have an intake form https://form.jotform.com/240776733339061 and a full application form https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/master-v4 and don’t want the client to fill in a similar or the same field twice.
I was sure there was a tool that can build the URL to transfer field data from form to form. Is there not?

Hi Todd,
Thanks for reaching out to us for help. We have a tool that allows you to generate the URL parameters to prepopulate your form. You can find that tool here. You might also want to check out these guides:
- Prepopulating fields to your Jotform via URL parameters
- How to automatically pass form data to another form
Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

I’m looking for a tool that apparently doesn’t’t exist.
I don’t want to pre populate manually I want the URL to the second form to grab data from the first form. I know this can be done manually but when you have 20-30 fields in the URL it’s incredibly frustrating to test and ensure it’s ready for clients to utilize.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Check our other feature to Prefill Form Fields With Data From Another Form With Form Prefill. This will get data from the submissions of the different form. This is manually set up, but surely it saves time compared to manually passing submission data through URL parameters. Here's how to do it:
- On the Form Builder page, go to the Publish tab at the top navigation bar.
- Open the Prefill tab on the left, then select Form Prefill, and then select the form to get the data from.
- Map the field from the source form and the field on the destination form.
- Click on the Add More button to add more fields and once done, click on the Save Settings button.
- Now, click on the Add New Prefill button, the one that's highlighted below.
- Select the submissions individual submissions to get the data from, and then click on the Create button. Note that you can only create 20 Prefilled URLs at a time.
- Select All or individually check to select the prefilled URL and then click on the Send Invitation button.
- You can add a customized message about the prefilled form. But note, you can only send up to 5 invitation at the time.
Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for the response but that’s not it. I don’t want to manually pre-fill I want the URL string to pass off the data from form to form.
is an example from a previous form I had working
https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/master-v4?typeOf={typeOf}&applicant1152={applicant1152}&applicant1156={applicant1156}&businessLegal={businessLegal}&typeA91={typeA91}&averageMonthly243={averageMonthly}&applicant1156={applicant1156)&howMuch={howMuch}&whatWill={whatWill}&howMuch94={howMuch94}&descriptionInclude={descriptionInclude}&inBusiness[day]={inBusiness:day}&inBusiness[month]={inBusiness:month} &inBusiness[year]={inBusiness:year}& applicant1[first]={applicant1:first}&applicant1[last]={applicant1:last}
It is a major pain to put together the field details for 20-30 fields and test it over and over. I guess there isn’t a tool where you can pick the form that will supply the data and a second target form and pick which fields to pass over and have it output the URL as above. There should be…..

Hi Todd,
Thanks for getting back to us. After checking your forms, I have seen that you redirects users to a different link after submission. Please note that you can pass form data automatically using URL parameters when you use the URL parameters as the external link after submission.
If this is not what you are trying to achieve, please let us know so we can help you further.
Give it a try and let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

That isn’t in the original. After 3 attempts and an example I’m giving up.
I guess I will have to build the URL manually.

Hi Todd,
I’m sorry you're having difficulties getting that feature to work. I believe the nearest feature that would achieve your requirements is the Form Prefill that was suggested by Lesther above. However, if that's not exactly what you're looking for, can you please explain it a little bit more and give us an example in a screenshot so that we can assist you better and respond accordingly?
Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

I previously built out two forms where the first form handed of field data to the second form so the clients don’t need to fill in name, email etc., twice. It was a major pain and never worked 100%. I was hoping that there was a tool that you could load the 2 forms and connect the fields you want to send from one form to the other.
If not I really wish there was a video or some other instructions on how to properly send field data from an intake form to an actual application form.
Form “A”
Name; Bill
Email; bill@bill.com
Form “B”
Name and email is sent form A data so
Name; Bill
Email; bill@bill.com
without the client filling in form “B” and only using the URL not the prefill tools.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now. We've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

And do you have a video or written instruction on how to pass off the data as I indicated? If I have to do it all by memory I will probably end up quitting.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for getting back to us. To clarify, do you want an example in the specified example in your reply? If so, you can prepopulate your form fields by including the query strings in the URL. The query component is indicated by the first question mark (“?”) followed by the query parameters in the URL.
Multiple query parameters are separated by the ampersand (“&”). The parameters are in key-value pairs where “key” is the field’s unique name and “value” is the field’s prefill value. Here's how to do it:
1. First, determine each form field's Unique Name on your target form, so for your example, it's Form B. Here's how to find the Unique Name:
- Select the form field and click the Gear icon.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click the Field Details dropdown.
- You can find the form field's Unique Name in the Unique Name box. Also, you may change it to your preferred unique name. In my example, I changed the Email field's unique name to {emailB}.
- So, in this case, the form with URL parameters for the Name and Email field would be:
https://form.jotform.com/240847397394067?nameB[first]="data"&nameB[last]="data"&emailB="data" - You can also use the Field Prepopulator app to generate URL parameters in Form B quickly. Please note that you will need to create dummy data to populate the fields. You just need to replace the filled data with each filled data with the relevant unique name from Form A. Here's an example screencast:
2. Second, go to Form A or your source form and identify each form field's Unique Name. In my created Form A demo, the Name field's unique name is "{nameA}" and the Email field's unique name is "{emailA}".
3. Then edit the created URL parameters from form B. You will need to replace the "data" in the URL parameters with the unique name in Form A. So, in this case, the final URL with query parameters would be:
https://form.jotform.com/240847397394067?nameB[first]={nameA[first]}&nameB[last]={nameA[first]}&emailB={emailA}4. Lastly, add the final URL with query parameters on the Thank You Page in Form A to redirect to the target form (Form B) with the prefilled data.
We also have a guide about How to Automatically Pass Form Data to Another Form that you can check out. It includes a video and a step-by-step guide.
Let us know if you need any more help.
