Add a Submission Date on Email Notification

Last Update: March 14, 2016

You may need to add submission dates in email notifier or in your Thank You message. In order to accomplish this, use {DATE} tag like the following.

If you use {DATE} without a parameter in your template it will be automatically replaced with a standard date time string as shown in the first row of the table below.

If you want to format the date string you can do so by adding a parameter to the tag: {DATE:arg}. We have some predefined parameters as shown below but if you need more customized dates you can do it with standard PHP date formatting

{DATE}2011-02-07 05:17:05
{DATE:Date-US}Feb 7, 2011
{DATE:Date-EU}7 Feb, 2011
{DATE:Time-US}5:17:05 AM
{DATE:Full-US}Feb 7, 2011 at 5:17:05 AM
{DATE:Full-EU}7 Feb, 2011 at 5:17:05
{DATE:l, jS \of F Y \a\t g:i A}Monday, 7th of February 2011 at 5:17 AM

If you have useful formatting examples which other users can benefit please share them in the comments below.

I'm quite pleased with the way it works. I just tested it a sentence in an autoresponse in the following way: On {DATE} at around {DATE:Time-EU}, someone etc...

That generated the following output: On Feb 7, 2011 at around 10:56:05, someone etc...

However, it would be nice if there was a way to adjust the hours (by appending +1 for instance) to the Time variable because I actually wanted 11:56:05 AM (Barbados time).

Also, what will happen during Daylight Saving Time? We don't use DST here.

It seems {DATE:Time-US} and {DATE:Time-EU} was wrong. US should show AM-PM and EU should show 24 hours. It's my bad. It's fixed now.

@abajan I think you want time zones it seems to be a bit tricky right now but I'll try to find a way for that. Currently all dates are represented in EST

I have 2 'named' date fields - 'arrival' & 'departure'.

In my mails I want to clearly indicate what days are selected, using this format: 'monday 1 January 2012' (to avoid any misunderstanding: mmdd vs ddmm).

How do I format those dates in the notification?
I tried:
- date(arrival, l j F Y)
- {arrival: l j F Y}

Both don't work....

I was able to change the timezone Pacific Standard Time under the Settings menu in JotForm. However, when I use the following, all notifications are displayed in Eastern Standard Time (instead of PST).

{DATE:l, jS \of F Y \a\t g:i A T}

Thanks for reading!

As mentioned in your post:
"...if you need more customized dates you can do it with standard PHP date formatting", but not working for this format:

{DATE:D d M Y}

Expected output: Tue 06 Jan 2015
Actual output: (empty)
