How to Change the Allowed File Types in the Upload Field

Users often ask which file types are supported in the File Upload field. The default file extensions are:

pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, csv, txt, rtf, html, zip, mp3, wma, mpg, flv, avi, jpg, jpeg, png, gif

However, you can add or remove file types to this list whenever necessary. To learn more, watch this short video or refer to the text-based guide below:

1. Click on the GEAR icon to open the File Upload properties.

2. Go to the OPTIONS tab.

3. Type the extensions of the allowed file types.

🔘 Separate each with a comma.

🔘 Don't include the leading dots/periods (e.g. type pdf instead of .pdf).

🔘 Type an asterisk * to allow all file types.

Hi, I have my settings to email me a report of the submission with the file uploads. When they are jpegs the images are included in the emailed pdf, but when they are pdfs they are not included in the emailed report. it is just a link to the pdf. is there a way to get the emailed report to include and image of the pdf, or append the pdf to the emailed pdf. i hope that makes sense.

I am using IE8 with XP pro sp3.

  • tony22

I want only jpg or jpeg files to be uploaded so deleted all types but left
    jpg, jpeg
    on the list.

When I tried to upload a jpg file I get the message:
jpg file extension is not allowed. You can only upload jpg, jpeg files.
Please go back and fix this.

How? Does the list of allowed types have to be written differently?

    Thanks, Tony
