How to calculate the number of each answer for each question?

    Hello,

I'm looking to set up a quiz that once completed will calculate the number of each response (ex. a, b, c...) and supply the quiz taker with their results based on the most frequently selected option.

Is this possible through Jotform? Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

    Hi Jenn,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Are you working on this form? Do you mean you want to calculate the number of As, Bs and Cs answers? If so, this is possible by using the Form Calculation widget. Let me help you set that up:

    1. Add a Number field for each question and each option.

    2. Add the same calculation value for each option.

    3. Create an Update/Calculate Field conditions for each question like you see below:

    4. Add Form Calculation widgets and add the total As and Bs answer:

    5. Finally, create a Show and Hide condition to Show the Paragraph field depending on the Total As and Bs:

Or, if you want to redirect them to a different page, just create a Change Thank You page condition like below:

Thank you SO much for this play by play.

I wonder if there is a more efficient way to set this up for a quiz that has 10 questions, with 5 possible responses per question?

I'm also hoping you or a team mate may be able to check out what I've set up so far? The form is called WHAT’S YOUR OVERTHINKING ARCHETYPE?

Thanks a bunch. Your guidance is appreciated.

Hello and thanks for this additional information.

However, it does not seem to address my situation.

For the quiz I've created there is no "right" answer. A quiz taker will select the response that most describes themself (i.e., response 1, response 2, etc.).

From there we would like to have the responses tabulated with the most frequent response identified so we can curtail their results. There are 5 possible result outcomes.

Is it possible to do this using the quiz form?

    Thank you!

    Jenn

    Hi Jenn,

Thanks for getting back to us. I checked your form and didn't exactly understand how you wanted the result to be calculated. How do you want the response to be shown to the users? I'd appreciate it if you could give us an example. So we can better understand your request and guide you accordingly.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

    Hi Ravi,

Thanks for the quick follow up.

I'm going to map it out for you with the hope that this helps answer your question (also helps me be more clear!).

Our quiz has 10 questions with 5 possible responses per question.

Once the quiz taker finishes the quiz we want to show them 1 of 5 possible result outcomes (either by email or a webpage), which is going to be based on the response they most often selected.

For example, if the taker selected response 1 more than the other 4 responses, they would then be redirected to a page on our website (or emailed) with specific results associated with predominant response 1 responses. Same goes for the most selected response of the 5 possible responses.

Let me know if this makes sense and if you need more information from me.

    Thank you.

    Jenn

    Hi Jenn,

Thanks for getting back to us. To clarify, do you want to see results only in email notifications, or do you want to see answers? Can you explain a bit more about the issue, so I can get a better idea?

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

    Hi,

We do not need to see answers. We just want the results shared based on responses, whether by email or a redirect to a page on our website.

    Does that answer your question?

    With gratitude.

    Hi Jenn,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You can consider the solution Angeli had provided previously. Each option can be assigned with certain point value, then you can calculate the total point from each question. You can then set up the range for each possible archetype, for example:

    • Result: 1-5 points = Archetype A
    • Result: 6-10 points = Archetype B
    • Result: 11-15 points = Archetype C
    • etc.

Then, you can consider using Conditional Logic's Redirect Thank You conditionally or Conditional Logic's Send Email based on the calculation result. You will need to create different thank you page/email based on each archetype.

Let us know if you have more questions.
