How Jotform helps Harlem Grown’s operations take root and thrive

Running a successful nonprofit requires more than hands-on programming; it depends on well-structured workflows to support day-to-day operations. From managing programs and applications to tracking community impact, Harlem Grown leverages Jotform to maintain streamlined and effective processes.

Harlem Grown is a New York based nonprofit dedicated to mentoring youth through hands-on education in urban farming, sustainability, and nutrition. Between operating 14+ urban farm sites, two weekly farm stands, and offering numerous free summer camps and after-school programs, they serve nearly 20,000 community members.

Before Jotform, Harlem Grown relied on spreadsheets to collect and organize submissions, resulting in siloed organization. Critically, they lacked data validation, resulting in data entries that were often duplicated or inaccurate, making it difficult to maintain an organized system.

Harlem Grown decided to switch to Jotform to streamline their summer camp and after school applications for families. They leveraged Jotform’s advanced functionalities to capture necessary information like contact information, as well as additional demographic information on household income, employment status, and overall well-being.

They also integrated Jotform with Salesforce to track both quantitative and qualitative insights on their community impact. This data supports grant applications and reporting efforts, helping the organization sustain its fundraising and keep programs free for participants.

“With Jotform, we can capture data easily and efficiently,” says Melani Estz, Institutional Giving Manager at Harlem Grown. “It makes our lives easier, so we can continue to serve our community and instill healthy habits for the children.”
