    How to position my checkbox and my radio options next to each other?

    Asked by Cliveg on January 16, 2017 at 05:54 AM
    Hi Liyam,
    Thanks for your suggestion. However, unfortunately it didn't work. I was wondering if you have any other suggestions on how I could have 13 columns? I am looking to have the words "Half page" in the far left, with the 12 months after it (all as radio buttons). It would be even better if I could have the "Half page" as a checkbox, and then 12 radio buttons after this. Do you know if this would be possible?
    Thanks,
    Clive

    Following the form created by AIDAN, and adding the radio buttons by the column, this is how it appears.

    But with your explanation, let me see if I'm understanding this -- Instead of the 12 months going down by rows, you want the 12 months by the columns? And then only one can be selected per row, is that it? If so, perhaps you can make use of a matrix field instead and show something like this

    Or A configurable list widget may be used. You can use the 1st column as a checkbox, and then the 2nd column (with 12 months in it) as your radio buttons.

    The widget above uses this configuration:

    : checkbox : Half Page
    : radio : Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec

    And the CSS code as this:

    .col1 {
    width: 100px !important;
    }

    .radio {
    float: left;
    padding-left: 0;
    min-width: 40px;

    .radio label {
    float: left;
    width: 30px !important;
    align: top;

    I think it would be great if you can explain to us how you want your form to work. This way we can figure out how to formulate your layout and functionality. So as well we can figure out if what you wish can actually be done.

    We'll look forward to your update on this.

    Thanks.

    Hi Liyam,
    Thanks a lot for getting back to me on this. Actually, ideally what I'd like is exactly as in the screen shot below with a single checkbox on the far left, followed by 12 radio buttons of the month, going horizontally across the page. However, what is important is that there is the option of checking more than one radio button on each horizontal line. So for example, you could tick half page, and choose January and February. Once this has been accomplished, then I presume that I could simply duplicate these elements? Ideally, it would be good if I knew how the CSS works so I could do this myself. Could you let me know if there are any tutorials about how to use CSS.
    Thanks a lot for your help.
    Clive

    Hi Ashwin,
    Thanks for your email. I didn't actually attach a screenshot. I was actually referring to the pictures in the email sent by jotform.
    Does that make sense?
    Best wishes,
    Clive

    Hello Clive,

    Yes it is possible to achieve your requirement by adding "Configurable List" widget in your form. You can add one checkbox question and 12 radio button questions in configurable list widget. Please check the screenshot below:

    Please take a look at the following cloned form and see if this works for you:  https://form.jotform.com/70155172054953

    Feel free to clone this form for a closer look. The following guide should help you in form cloning:  https://www.jotform.com/help/42-How-to-Clone-an-Existing-Form-from-a-URL

    Hope this helps.

    Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you!

    Hi Ashwin,
    Thanks a lot for sending this configurable list. It's very useful. I've cloned it and now I'm ready to make up the form. However, there was one other thing. I was wondering whether the radio buttons could all be moved slightly to the left, so the words "Half page" could all fit on one line. Do you know if this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Clive

    Hello Clive,

    I have fixed this in the form which you have cloned your account by injecting the following custom css code in configurable list widget:

    .checkbox {

        width: 100px;

    }

    Please check the screenshot below on how to inject custom css code in widget:

    Hope this helps.

    Do get back to us if you need any changes.

    Thank you!

    Hi Ashwin,
    Thanks a lot for this. I also have one other question. Do you know if it's possible to colour in bits of the form? I would like to have the checkbox in one colour (the background) and the radio boxes in a different colour.
    Thanks,
    Clive

    Hi Ashwin,
    Good morning. I know you're busy, but I was wondering whether you had a chance to look at my email regarding the colouring bits of the form (see the email below).
    Thanks,
