Text Area Question

Is there a way to prevent users of a form from entering text that has an apostrophe in it? I transfer information between two forms via a string of URL parameters and have seen that when the text area has a word such as  " don't, can't or won't" that the form trying to load the entries based on URL parameters does not work properly. Do you have any advice on how to prevent those entries in a text area?
