How does this work? If I link this to my salesforce account, I don't want duplicate contact records to be made in salesforce for the people submitting forms who are already in my salesforce database.

According to my understanding, you saw some duplicated contact information in SalesForce. In other words, after you integrate your form with SalesForce and received submissions, you noticed that there is some duplicated contact info in your SalesForce.
You can prevent this from the settings of the SalesForce Integration. Please look at the following video:
Please check your settings and be sure that you selected Always Update Existing Entry in the Duplicate Check setting.
I have checked your form but I couldn't find any SalesForce integration and that's why I couldn't control your settings.
After you changed the setting as above, if the issue still persists please inform me.
