    Random Value Generator fails to give out unique IDs

    I am having a real issue with the Random Value Generator widget in that, at some point, it fails to give out values in the respective field. 

    We are using the form (https://form.jotform.com/63323764426962) in order to register students for a series of events and the Random Value plays the role of a unique identifier that we can then match against other entries in other forms (the ones where our exhibitors collect information about the students they talked to during the mini fairs/events).

    Could you please help on this matter. I have tried changing the number of characters and the type of character from alphanumeric to numeric only but without success. We need the widget to check for uniqueness since this is used as a key in our database (as stated earlier).

    Hi there too 😊 I'm afraid I failed to reproduce this behavior you're describing. I'm seeing you're posting the {ID} on your Thank You page and after a couple of tests, I always manage to get a Unique Value generated from the widget.

    You coined the term "at some point" - Does this mean it's erratic and sometimes fail to generate a random value? Or does it mean it stopped generating random values altogether? Is there anything special that we need to do from our end to replicate this problem? 

    Just get back to us with a bit more info so we can better assist you.

    Thanks for your investigations! When I say “at some point” it means that there are periods where the widget does not generate a code altogether while on a regular basis, it works just fine, as seen below.
    The only possible circumstance that I could make out that might affect its ability to generate IDs is when there are a lot of registrations at the same time. This can be seen from the list of registrations: the ones without an ID generated are usually clustered within the same minute… Is there a limitation to the number of IDs generated within a certain timespan?

    Hmm, that's a good observation - I'm not aware of any limitations to the number of IDs generated but checking concurrent (or close to concurrent) submissions might be a good place to start.

    Thank you for holding, we've tested your form extensively, and it seems to be working fine during testing.

    The widget creates a random value for each submission, regardless of the time it is made. To double-check this, I've made several submissions within a very short time, and they all generated their random values correctly:

    I would recommend that you please mark your Random Value Generator widget as a required field, so that the form cannot be submitted if this field is empty:
