    Hi

We are having problems with our jotform, when people register for our car show it is sometimes registering 2 different people with the same entrant number.

Is there a way of preventing this from happening?

How do we change the entrant numbers in JotForm so that when I export it to excel it will reflect the correct Entrant Number?

    Regards,

I checked your form and you are using a submissions counter widget as an entrant number.

Take note that this widget does not ensure a unique value because whenever you delete a single submission in your form, it would be deducted in the submissions counter widget as well.

    Example:

Total submissions is 50 (from last submission)

When you delete a submission, the total submissions becomes 49.

This will automatically number the next submission to 50.

If you want a unique number, use the Unique ID widget http://www.jotform.com/help/79-Add-Custom-Unique-IDs-to-your-Form-Submissions.

Then provide the Unique ID to your users after submissions via thank you page or through autoresponder message.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi

With the Unique ID number widget does it give consecutive numbers as we are using these as entrant numbers i.e. 50, 51 etc. At the moment we are getting duplicate and missing numbers for different entrants.  We need to be able to edit current submissions to correct these problems.

Will this then enable us to edit a submission without it creating a new submission.

    Thanks, Ben

Yes the Unique Id generates the id number in sequence. Every time your form is submitted, widget will generate a unique sequence number for each submission. I would suggest you to please test the widget in a new form and see if that fits into your requirement.

Will this then enable us to edit a submission without it creating a new submission.

Please note that when you edit a submission, it will not create a new submission record. The following guide should help you how to edit submissions:  https://www.jotform.com/help/325-How-to-Edit-Submissions-Made-on-Your-Forms
