    This previous ticket

    https://www.jotform.com/answers/923423-Can-I-force-users-to-select-an-option-in-the-autocomplete-widget

    from another customer asks:

"With the autocomplete widget, is there any way to force the user to select one of the listed choices? Simply making it required still allows for them to type "ghbhbukkj" and have it accepted, while a simple dropdown menu would be too cumbersome to scroll through. Ya dig? Thx for any help."

The last comment (April 2017) says,

"This thread has been elevated as a feature request but we haven't had any news about it yet."

Any word? Since the reason for autocomplete is to have clean data, the visitor's ability to type in anything really undermines the purpose of the widget.

    Thanks!

As I understood, you want to force the user to choose one of the choices that are listed already. You can use the dropdown list or single choice field to achieve this for now.

As previously mentioned in the other post, there's no assurance whether this will be implemented since it will highly depend on the viability of the feature, the number of similar requests we get, along with the workload of our developers. I will mark this as a feature request too. You will be notified on this thread if there is an update.

Thank you for understanding and your patience.

Thanks for the reply. There are more than 1,000 options, so neither the  dropdown list nor the single choice field works in this case.
